The Skills for Technology Project - Free training for marine, aerospace and space manufacturing
Manufacturing Consortium partner ATG-Training in Aylesbury has received funding from the South East of England Development Agency (SEEDA) and the European Social Fund (ESF) to offer completely free training for local manufacturers working in the marine, aerospace or space sectors. The details are as follows:
CAD COURSES
Computer Aided Design Workshop 1 CAD 01 (2 Day) EAL Approved
Suitable for delegates who wish to gain an understanding of and be able to use a 2 dimensional drawing package (AutoCAD 2008) at level 3 and above.
Computer Aided Design Workshop 2 CAD 02 (2 Day) EAL Approved
Suitable for delegates who wish to gain a more advanced understanding of AutoCAD 2008 and be able to use 2 dimensional drawing at level 3 and above.
This workshop is intended for those who require more advanced knowledge of AutoCAD 2008 and skills to enable 2D drawing to be created with greater productivity.
Computer Aided Design Workshop 3 CAD 03 (2 Day) EAL Approved
Suitable for delegates who wish to gain a more advanced understanding of AutoCAD 2008 and be able to use 2 dimensional drawing at level 3 and above. This course is intended to give the student advanced knowledge of AutoCAD 2008 software, providing details of background settings and advanced drawing manipulation, data transfer.
Inventor Workshop CAD 04 (2 Day) EAL Approved
Suitable delegates: Engineers, designers, drafters, and professionals who wish to produce 3-D drawings/models for a particular discipline or engineering application using Inventor.

CAM 01 (2 Day) EAL Approved
Suitable Delegates: All who wish to generate programs using CAM software packages, however complex the part.
CNC Milling (3 Day) EAL Approved
For delegates who wish to operate 3 & 3+2 Axis CNC Milling machine using Heidenhain iTNC 530 controls and conversational language at the machine.
This workshop provides an overview of programming and editing techniques used when operating a CNC mill in either 3 or 3+2 axis operations. Covering the use of canned cycles and manual methods of programming, the delegate will generate and edit a variety of programs to improve their knowledge and ability to navigate the controller.
Electronic Measurement and Testing (3 Day) EAL Approved
This unit will give learners an understanding of a variety of electronic measurement equipment. Learners will develop an understanding of the function, features and characteristics of electronic measurement and test equipment. They will also gain practical experience of their use when carrying out electronic testing and measurements in a wide range of electronic engineering applications.
Learning outcomes:
Understand the function, features and characteristics of electronic measurement and test equipment.
Be able to select and use electronic measurement and test equipment to make meaningful measurements on an electronic circuit.
Understand the principles of calibration and configuration of electronic test equipment.
Be able to select and use virtual test instruments and software to make measurements and analyse measurement data.
Introduction to Metrology
This 1 Day Practical Metrology course will aid the student in performing basic dimensional experiments.
This course is aimed at provide the principle knowledge and practical training for people who are required to use dimensional measurement techniques to complete their daily tasks.
The course content is relevant to all industrial sectors.
Apparatus: - Selection of Equipment to be used.
Methods: - Care and handling / Recording results
Calculations: - Simple Trig calculations/Volumes and areas
Assessment: - Relevant Standards and Drawing tolerances

Be within the SEEDA (South East) region. Operates (partly or fully) in the Aerospace / Space / Marine sector (directly or indirectly feeds into the Aerospace, Space or Marine Industry). Have less than 249 employees Have a balance sheet of less than £30M. An annual turnover of less than £34.9M. Not received more than €200,000 of grants or state aides in the last three fiscal years.
